We concentrate our activities on research and development of cardiologic diagnostics. Working in this field is especially rewarding because we can contribute significantly to the solution of challenges in healthcare, especially in early diagnosis. We are convinced that the Magnetic Field Imaging system (MFI) developed by BMDSys has the potential to revolutionize the clinical routine diagnostics in cardiology. Its establishment in clinical routine and the market leadership in biomagnetic diagnostic systems are BMDSys´ main goals.
BMDSys developed and syntonized the larger part of components which result in a Single Pass MFI system applicable in the clinical routine of a cardiologic everyday practice.
It is our vision that MFI will be the gold standard in leading cardiologic clinics in the foreseeable future. In the next step we imagine cardiologist practices, equipped with a new sensor concept based on the laser technology, to work with this system. It is our long-term goal to extend the diagnosable range of indications.

Apollo CXS is the latest development in the area of Magnetic Field Imaging (MFI). Its precursors had already been conceived in the eighties by Dr. Sergio Erné (BMDSys today). MFI is primarily used for cardiac diagnostics. It measures the magnetic fields changing in the course of a heartbeat and thus captures the electrophysiological function of the heart.
Pathological changes in myocardial activity and electrical cardiac activation can then be identified early.
Contact-free diagnostics with 55 high-tech sensors
With 55 magnetic sensors arranged in a hexagonal matrix, which can cover an area of approx. 28 cm in diameter on the patient’s chest, Apollo CXS can record the entire relevant part about the patient’s heart in a single data acquisition pass. The individual sensors are each able to measure differences in the magnetic flux density of less than 25 femtotesla at a bandwidth of 1 Hz.
MIANDA, a specially developed analysis software system, facilitates comprehensive analysis of the results immediately after the examination. Dependent on indication, the data can be displayed in different forms, e.g. in three-dimensional animations or in specific curve functions, thus providing the attending physician with optimum support when making a diagnosis.
Patient-oriented diagnostic tool
The diagnostic system does not expose the patient to any side effects at all, because it is non-invasive, contact and radiation-free and also requires no contrast agent whatsoever. No preparations are required for the examination. The system is suitable for both high patient throughput and emergency patients, because the actual examination takes about two minutes and the results are available after about one minute.
MIANDA – Efficient analysis software
Intelligent software is necessary to make sense of the huge volumes of data. With MIANDA, BMDSys has developed analysis software, which meets today’s clinical requirements. Dependent on indication, the data can be displayed in different forms, e.g. in three-dimensional animations or in specific curve functions.
